Did you know that the National Institutes of Health (NIH), Center for Information Technology (CIT) has now federated with nearly 50 !InCommon participating research universities?

Using the NIH Federated Identity Management System - iTrust - federated institutions are able to use their existing campus usernames and passwords to access over 48 NIH applications. While there are many applications that are of special interest to the !InCommon community, we're highlighting two new ones, ALT and Web Collaboration, and three favorites, !PubMed, CTSA Wiki, and APR SIS.

=== ALT ===
The Address !LookUp Tool (ALT) allows medical providers affiliated with defined National Children's Study (NCS) segments to look up addresses of their pregnant patients to determine if they may be eligible to participate in the NCS.

=== Web Collaboration ===
NIH Web Collaboration, commonly called web meeting or Connect, is a real-time web conferencing and collaboration system available through the NIH. For more information, see the FAQs at http://webcollaboration.nih.gov/nihLogin.aspx#faq_actions.

=== !PubMed ===
!PubMed, from the National Center for Biotechnology Information at the National Library of Medicine (NLM), comprises more than 20 million citations for biomedical literature from MEDLINE, life science journals and online books. Federated users can save searches, save collections of data, and take advantage of other personalized services.

=== CTSA Wiki ===
Clinical and Translational Science Award (CTSA) Wiki is an online, restricted-access, collaborative work environment. It enables members of the CTSA Consortium to interact directly with the content to develop, share, collect and collate information, tools and resources. The CTSA Wiki currently supports 1,500 members at 38 grantee institutions.

=== APR SIS ===
Annual Project Report System (APR SIS) is an information repository that facilitates reporting by NIH's National Center for Research Resources (NCRR) grantees, who hold large infrastructure awards, that gauge data required for assessing progress.

Has your institution federated with NIH?
To date, nearly 50 universities have federated with NIH, offering simplified access to NIH applications.

If your university is ready to join the movement and gain access to NIH using your existing campus usernames and passwords, see the NIH Federation !InCommon Wiki. The wiki is able to assist clients with current Federated Identity tools, ensuring seamless transition during application integration with NIH.
